520 _a‪The French departments in Algeria saw the development of various technical and professional schools and courses from the end of the 19th century to the end of French rule. Whereas provision was limited before the Education Plan of 1958, the policies implemented resulted in a rolling out of this education over the areas concerned, which was similar to what was also happening in mainland France, and a focus on specific goals. The location and networking of institutions and courses provide evidence of a training provision policy which reflects the important issues of colonial society. At the classroom and workshop level, the organisation and equipment reveal uneven investment in this education.‪
