520 _aErnest Morin (1828–1900) wrote his memoirs as a landowner and working farmer near the end of his life in order to provide his heirs with guidance in the management of his operations. This document is a rare testimony covering half a century of agricultural history, including the development of single-crop farming in the Languedoc region, the oidium and phylloxera crises, and the beginnings of the slump in sales in the 1900s. On land suitable to the production of high-quality wine, Morin oversaw the creation, then the replanting of his vineyards on his own village plot all the while being mindful of the self-financing of his business and of keeping abreast of agronomic research.
