520 _aThe debate between psychoanalysis and neuroscience should not be viewed as a territorial dispute, but rather as a debate between complementary points of view about the same subject, namely the human psyche and its functioning. From this angle the questions raised concern the differences in methods. Objectivity and experimental evidence is the method used by neuroscience, and individual inter-subjectivity for psychoanalysis, whose theoretical models give an account as a theory of therapeutic practice rather than a theory of the psyche.
