520 _aFaced with an increasingly acute global environmental crisis, a large number of literary and artistic creations take charge of representing devastated spaces. Our article analyses in particular the devastated spaces of the landfill (Lucie Taïeb), the island (Chloé Chaudet), and the aridity line (Claire Gallien). Our critical line aims at linking a geographically specific study of the literary representations of local devastation with a multiscalar interpretation of devastated places. Our approach makes it possible to think out literary geographies seen from a transcultural perspective and, at the same time, to avoid the pitfalls of a loose and decontextualized analysis of globalization. In this regard, literature turns out to be a privileged place to connect and switch on the multiple scales of devastation.
