520 | _aThe technolect and linguistic ressources: the example of the Moroccan Highway Code This article approaches Moroccan diglossia through the technolect of Driving Schools. It shows that the written version of the Highway Code is very different from the one used orally during the lessons. The booklets, written in standard Arabic, use complex neologisms built up on an Arabic basis but copying the official French terminology. When speaking, all the people involved prefer to use the borrowings from ordinary French. These simple phonological and morphological units, already well integrated into the Arabic dialect, insure the rapidity and efficiency required by normal communication. | ||
