520 _aThis discussion will present the results from a funded research program entitled ‘School life Expectancy and Handicap [Espérance de vie scolaire et handicap – EVS-H]’ for the first time. This programme aims at evaluating the educational life expectancy and the schooling trajectories of a population of 197 children born with a birth defect leading to health problems or functional limitations linked with a disability (such as a motor dysfunction, a cognitive, sensory, or neurodevelopmental impairment). The population examined is of enrolment age for primary school, at the time of the enactment of the February 2005 French law for Equal Rights, Opportunities, Participation, and Citizenship for Disabled Persons. This study leads to acknowledge that the school life expectancy measured both in an ordinary environment and in a hospital environment is similar to the national results, but is significantly lower when calculated only in the ordinary environment. This article discusses the various results that have led to this analysis in the context of inclusive education.
