520 _aThe pastoral task with respect to the communication of faith in families is a complex one. This article puts forth a certain number of desiderata for religious education within the family. These are not intended to be seen as criteria for judging people, but to help support their educational role based on their own resources. The point is to lead them in to explore their key life questions. The mutual interest of parents, grandparents and children, regardless of the family structure or way of living together, is a condition for communicating the faith. Finally, the author seeks to show that the four tasks that are proper to the Church – koinonia, diaconia, kerygma and liturgia – are interconnected when we talk about communicating the faith within the family.
