245 0 0 _aA call to promote living donor kidney transplantation in France in 2023

520 _aKidney transplantation from living donors is an activity that remains underdeveloped in France. This is particularly true when compared with most North American and European countries. The lack of proactive and evidence-based communication from French health providers is one of the potential causes of this underdevelopment, and has been overlooked thus far. Communication, information and, ultimately, promotion of living-donor transplantation are the responsibility of the entire nephrology community, and first and foremost of nephrologists not specifically involved in transplantation. With this as a backdrop, the Transplantation Commission of the Société francophone de néphrologie, dialyse et transplantation (Francophone Society of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation, SFNDT) has developed a ten-point plan to promote living donor kidney transplantation in France in 2023 . The aim here is twofold: (1) provide the entire nephrology community with a scientific rationale, and (2) strengthen the conviction of health care providers, patients, and their relatives about the relevance of this type of kidney transplantation.
