520 _aMosquitoes have always been considered a nuisance for humans, mainly because they are the most common vectors of numerous diseases to humans and animals. Many of the methods used by humans to fight against these harmful insects have detrimental consequences for the environment and human and animal health. The use of botanical insecticides is thus strongly recommended as an alternative method. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the responses of two mosquito species (Culex pipiens and Culiseta longiareolata) under laboratory conditions to the impact of the aqueous extract of the leaves and fruit of a toxic plant (Solanum sodomaeum). The larvae were treated according to the WHO recommendations. The results showed that the aqueous extract prepared by decoction had an interesting larvicidal activity. After four days of treatment, 100% mortality was observed in Culex pipiens and Culiseta longiareolata larvae when treated with a high concentration of the studied extract. The calculated toxicological parameters made it possible to determine the lethal concentrations (LC50%, LC90%) and lethal times (LT50%, LT90%) for each extract tested.
