520 | _aIn order to cope with employment difficulties, immigrants often feel the need to adopt an entrepreneurial approach (including one involving those activities that are considered as being “second class”). The literature on immigrant entrepreneurs is confined to immigrants within large urban centers where they can rely on ethnic enclaves. This paper, based on interview results, focuses on those entrepreneurs who have started a business out of necessity while living in a remote area. First, the results show that these entrepreneurs of necessity are also entrepreneurs looking for opportunities. It then presents the difficulties that entrepreneurs face, as well as their contributions to the host community. Finally, this paper describes how to rethink support for these entrepreneurs. | ||
