520 | _aIn June 1961, Montreal was, for a few days, the world capital of psychiatry. After Paris in 1950 and Zurich in 1957, the city of Quebec was chosen to host the Third World Congress of Psychiatry. From June 4 to 10, nearly 3,000 psychiatrists from sixty-three countries gathered at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel to attend more than 500 scientific lectures and discuss the latest advances in this rapidly expanding medical specialty. A historic moment for Quebec psychiatry, which thus obtained international recognition, but also for world psychiatry, which seized this opportunity to unite by creating the World Psychiatric Association. | ||
