After Paris in 1950 and Zurich in 1957, the city of Quebec was chosen to host the Third World Congress of Psychiatry. From June 4 to 10, nearly 3,000 psychiatrists from sixty-three countries gathered at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel to attend more than 500 scientific lectures and discuss the latest advances in this rapidly expanding medical specialty. A historic moment for Quebec psychiatry, which thus obtained international recognition, but also for world psychiatry, which seized this opportunity to unite by creating the World Psychiatric Association. | ||
