| 520 | _aFrom a psychoanalytic perspective, this paper discusses and compares psychodynamic, systemic, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to psychotherapy. Three different cases of treatment pertaining to marital conflict were assigned to psychotherapists, one being a cognitive-behavioral therapist, one a systemic therapist, and the other a psychodynamic therapist. The interview was transcribed so that the way each therapist handled the case could be assessed. According to object relations theory, particularly the notion of objectal support, it is possible to distinguish different strategic options for each therapist in terms of intersubjective, interpersonal, or cognitive dimensions of the marital conflict. This paper discusses the implications for clinical practice and research. | ||
