520 _a“The disproportion of anti-speciesist violence in relation to its objects raises the question of the grounds for this violence. far from being the expression of compassion informed by a hedonistic morality, an ecology and an ethology, this violence plays a major role in the general ideology of non-differentiation and demonstrates the resentment that is inherent to postmodernity. The privileged place of humanity can only be regained by responding to the contemporary cosmological crisis with a panpsychist cosmology: that of Raymond Ruyer, for example. in such a cosmology, the primordial dignity of humanity is founded on the nature of the human brain, that embryo extended in time, reversing the subordinate relationship to the organism, in order to offer humans the gift of a relation with the Earth in its totality. The plurality of species is thus transcended by the access to a world of values, unified by a Sense of senses. Not wanting to occupy the central place means breaking with the basic requirements of humanity. Anti-speciesist violence is therefore neither altruism extended to every sentient being nor humility, but rather resentment against a situation that is not one of power but of responsibility.”
