520 _aThis article aims at studying the socio-political changes in the Chilean society through the trajectory of a coalition, the Frente Amplio (Broad Front). Founded in 2017 to challenge the hegemony of the two major coalitions structuring Chilean politics since 1989, the Frente Amplio has its roots in the history of student mobilisations against a higher education system inherited from the dictatorship. Aggregating a plurality of political traditions, coming mainly but not only from the left, this coalition builds its unity around an opposition to the neoliberal model and a rhetoric of political renewal. From its genesis to 2021, a year of definition of a new constitutional pact in Chile, the Frente Amplio’s trajectory is embedded in the vast process of questioning neoliberal and conservative foundations of the Chilean society.
