520 _aHow has a public policy about history developed since 2015 in Poland and the electoral victory of the Law and Justice Party (PiS)? The erratic history of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), the main tool for a policy of history, is presented along with the ways that political parties have addressed this public policy issue. The PiS stands out owing to its determination to capture the IPN’s resources for its own benefit. The evidence is pointed out of an evolution of this policy in an unequivocal direction, as demonstrated in particular by the theme of “Polish-Jewish relations” during World War II and the modification of the IPN Act in 2018 to defend Poland’s “reputation”. Cleavages between groups of historians, which have deepened since 2015, are discussed.
