520 | _aThe literature on paradoxes is abundant. However, it is a concept which remains vague and analysis of its effects is neglected. Still, the stakes are high: organizations that are locked into paradoxes can have a detrimental effect on work and health. The article proposes an operationalization of the concept of paradox and its effects on the basis of an ergonomic analysis of work Research carried out within the shared services center reveals the exposure of employees to paradoxes and contradictory messages, sources of detrimental effects. Notions of dilemma, paradox, and organizations locked into paradoxes are discussed. The reduction of paradoxes is set as a key objective of the intervention in organizations. | ||
