Based on qualitative interviews with the participants of coworking spaces located in small- and medium-sized cities, the study shows that geographic proximity is not enough to generate collaboration and that other forms of proximity are required. It also reveals that electronic proximity is important to overcome distance and that opportunity proximity supports interorganizational collaboration.
