| 520 | _aSound recording technologies may always already be political and politicized – existing as part of a much wider ideological economy. This article addresses the relationship between (recorded) sound, climate change and environmental activism by drawing attention to the overlooked resources of recording cultures. It notably surveys how, since their inception, recording technologies (and in particular records) have both anticipated and reflected global processes of ecological transformation. The article also examines recent attempts at “greening” phonography by discussing the works of sound artists and activists making records with alternative materials. | ||

Cet article s’intéresse aux rapports entre le son (enregistré), le changement climatique et le militantisme environnemental en se concentrant sur un phénomène trop longtemps ignoré : les ressources des cultures de l’enregistrement.
