520 _aThis paper examines a food aid short supply chain using the concept of food democracy. The case study focuses on the Uniterres program, led by ANDES, a French federation of social groceries. The article shows that the democratic arrangements enabling those who consume the products (the “beneficiaries”) and those who produce them (the “vulnerable” farmers) to co-construct the solidarity dimension of the Uniterres program are not yet complete. It also reports on the evolution of farmers' capacity to participate through their resilience, understood as an additional feature of food democracy.
