Cet énoncé, exclusivement hospitalier, l’hystérie, prend souvent le relai de tromba, désignant la possession et ses manifestations. A partir d’une situation clinique et la reconstruction historique du terme médical hystérie, l’auteur analyse comment l’univers incongru de la possession, est remplacé brutalement par le terme hystérie, qui recouvre des représentations péjoratives de la femme. Ainsi, loin d’aider à la compréhension d’un désordre psychologique, il sert à préserver l’identité professionnelle des soignants, mise en difficulté par l’irruption des représentations populaires, dans un contexte global de crise.

So, it doesn’t help to understand a psychologic disorder, but preserve the identity of the medical professionnals, which is in difficult in front of the irruption of popular representations, in a global context of crisis.

Este enunciado, exclusivamente hospitalario, histeria, remplaza amenudo el de “ tromba ”, que designa la posesión y sus manifestaciones. A partir de una situación clínica y de la reconstrucción del termino médico de histeria, el autor analisa como el universo incongruente de la posesión es brutalmente remplazado por el termino de histeria, que encubre representaciones peyorativas de la mujer. Así, lejos de ayudar a la comprensión de un desorden sicológico, sirve para preservar la identidad profesional del personal médico, puesta en jaque por la irrupción de representaciones populares, en un contexto general de crisis.
