520			_aRésuméLe siècle des Lumières français est connu pour son goût prononcé des dictionnaires et encyclopédies en tous genres, allant du simple manuel, comme celui de l’abbé Prévost à l’entreprise extraordinaire de Diderot et d’Alembert, je veux bien entendu faire allusion à l’ Encyclopédie. Le XIXe siècle, quant à lui, se veut plus synthétique dans sa façon de traiter certaines questions. Nous avons choisi de nous intéresser, dans un premier temps, à la lexocographie du « métis » et du « métissage » durant ces deux siècles à partir des dictionnaires et encyclopédies édités afin d’analyser, dans un second temps, l’idéologie qui accompagne ces tentatives de définition.
520			_aAbout interbreedingThe century of the French Enlightment is reputed for its passion for dictionaries and encyclopaedias of all sorts, ranging from simple handbooks like the one by Abbé Prévost, to such extraordinary works as Diderot and d’Alembert’s Encyclopaedia. The 18th century had a more synthetic approach to a certain number of issues. Our choice was to deal first with the lexicography related to the concepts of « mixed race » and « interbreeding » through the study of the dictionaries and encyclopaedias that were published in the course of these two centuries. We shall then analyse the underlying ideology behind these attempted definitions.
520			_aAcerca del mestizajeEl Siglo de la Luces francés es conocido por su aficción a los diccionarios y enciclopedias de todo tipo. Nos referimos al simple manual del fraile abbé Prévost o la extraordinaria compilación de Diderot y d’Alembert conocida como L’Encycopédie. El siglo XIX, al contrario se muestra más sintético en su manera de tratar ciertas problemáticas. A partir de los diccionarios y enciclopedias editados en aquellos siglos nos interesaremos promero a la lexicografía de las palabras « mestizo » y « mestizaje » y terminaremos por un análisis de la ideología, la que acompaña aquellas tentativas de definición.
