520 _aThis study first proposes to describe the few historical contacts between Pierre de La Ramée and Loys Le Roy. In a second step, starting from their particular cases, the article endeavors to put forward some hypotheses on the conditions of possibility and the intellectual and textual forms which a philosophy of French expression can take in the midst of the 16th century, to whose vitality numerous publications attest. The use of the French language in a philosophical context is determined by ideological and political concerns, a philosophy oriented towards praxis and the example of Cicero. Nourished by common ideas, but evolving in distinct socio-cultural environments, Ramus and Regius illustrate French philosophy by very different modes of expression and objects of study (theoretical treatises on the Trivium for the former, Platonic translations and commentaries, as well as political commentaries for the latter).
