520 | _aWe need to study the history of social work to understand today’s issues and the future. Such is the objective of the “History of social work network.” This group has offered analysis in several areas: contextualization of events in social work within a temporal framework, updating narratives about legitimacy and about discontinuity, analysis of global approaches that situate the history of social work in a political and social context. Work has been done on social work’s founding personalities, its ideological tendencies, socio-political influences, the history of institutions and of NGOs, the beginnings of training centers, and on social work practice. This article attempts a synthesis of the accomplishments of the network and proposes a horizon for future research. | ||
