520			_aL’une des transformations les plus frappantes de la monarchie marocaine à l’issue du règne du sultan puis roi Mohammed V (1909-1961) est la dépersonnalisation de la fonction monarchique : la distinction croissante entre le corps personnel et mortel du monarque et le corps immortel et politique de la monarchie. Cette dissociation doit garantir une meilleure pérennité de la dynastie et de l’institution. Cependant, l’individu Mohammed V ne s’est pas pour autant effacé derrière sa fonction. Le surinvestissement symbolique et son engagement personnel ont joué un rôle majeur dans l’indépendance du Maroc. Cet article revient sur ce paradoxe apparent en étudiant les rapports entre l’individu et sa fonction au travers de trois cérémonies importantes, en particulier les successions au trône de 1927 et 1961. Elles permettent de discerner, à l’intersection des deux corps du roi, l’émergence du « père de l’indépendance ».
520			_aOne of the most notable transformations of the Moroccan monarchy from the reign of Sultan and then King Mohammed V (1909-1961) is the depersonalization of the monarchic function: the increasing distinction between the personal and mortal body of the monarch and the immortal and political body of the monarchy. This dissociation aims to ensure a greater longevity of the dynasty and the institution. However, Mohammed V did not fade behind his function. His intense symbolic investment and his personal commitment played a major role in the independence of Morocco. This article explores this apparent paradox by examining the relationship between the individual and his function through three major ceremonies especially the successions to the throne in 1927 and 1961. They allow us to discern, at the intersection of the king's two bodies, the emergence of the “father of independence”.
