520 _aThe French reader has had to wait for the publication of volume III of Hope the Principle to get at long last the methodological key to complete the Blochian edifice : dialectical secularization. This article analyzes the operation of this method by starting from its twin relation to religious hermeneutics and Hegelian dialectics. Our goal is to show how it is possible to recover the heritage, not only of hope, but also of humanism - which was discredited during an entire era of Marxology for belonging to the « early Marx » - and of materialism, which itself had a tendency to develop autonomously into a dialectics of nature-as-omnipotent-force. However, Hope the Principle inscribes both in a practical philosophy of history based on the « process-figures » of the man-nature dialectic.
