520			_aThe article elaborates on an Amazonian aesthetics that expresses itself through a regime of small intervals, producing variation by means of minimal differences. It proposes that this aesthetics is not only foundational of indigenous Amazonian visual and verbal-musical arts, but also of Amazonian peoples’ perception of and engagement with the world. By so doing, the article inverts the priority that Lévi-Strauss afforded the discrete over the continuous in Amerindian thinking. It further suggests that this aesthetics responds for the difficulty that non-indigenous people find in appreciating indigenous cultural expressions, as well as their forested environment.
