520			_a‪Au fil des années, plusieurs mouvements artistiques, culturels et philosophiques ont émergé dans l’industrie de la musique gospel nigériane. Parmi ceux-ci, la « glossolalie chantée » est particulièrement plébiscitée par la nouvelle génération de chanteurs de hip-hop pentecôtistes, dont beaucoup semblent vouloir redéfinir les frontières du gospel nigérian. Malgré sa visibilité dans l’espace musical nigérian, la « glossolalie chantée » (telle que pratiquée par les artistes nigérians) n’a que peu attiré l’attention des chercheurs et théoriciens. Cet essai cherche à combler cette lacune manifeste en explorant la question de la glossolalie chantée à la lumière de deux théories philosophiques et religieuses, à savoir l’ésotérisme et le postmodernisme. Quelle est la place de la glossolalie chantée dans l’évolution de l’industrie du gospel nigérian ? Dans quel sens chanter en langue serait-il ésotérique ? Et en quoi ce mouvement musical est-il un reflet subtil du christianisme postmoderne au Nigéria ?‪
520			_aThe Nigerian gospel music industry has over the years witnessed the emergence of many artistic, cultural and philosophical movements. One of these movements is the “singing-in-tongues” paradigm, particularly endorsed by the new generation of Pentecostal hip-hop musicians, many of whom seem bent on redefining the boundaries of Nigerian gospel music. Although remarkable, the singing-in-tongues paradigm (as deployed by Nigerian artistes) has remained understudied or virtually non-theorized by scholars. This paper seeks to fill this apparent gap in knowledge by exploring the singing-in-tongues concept in the light of two philosophical/religious currents, namely esotericism and postmodernism. What has been the place of the singing-in-tongues paradigm in the evolution of the Nigerian gospel music industry? How is singing in tongues esoteric? And how is it a subtle reflection of postmodern Christianity in Nigeria?
