520			_aRésuméPourquoi Alphonse X a-t-il défendu son projet impérial jusqu’aux dernières conséquences ? L’idéologie impériale alphonsine attire l’attention des chercheurs depuis des décennies. Cette étude propose une approche interdisciplinaire de la question et tente de démêler les raisons qui motivent l’idée impériale alphonsine et sa relation avec le «  Fecho del Imperio » et l’œuvre culturelle du Roi Sage. Nous analyserons les origines de la cause impériale : d’une part, l'existence d’une idée impériale liée au royaume de León qui est parvenue à Alphonse X par l’intermédiaire de Ferdinand III ; d’autre part, le lien parenté du roi avec les empereurs de Staufen par l’intermédiaire de sa mère, Béatrice de Souabe. De cette manière, nous pourrons expliquer les complexités de l’idée impériale alphonsine et sa relation avec le processus de centralisation du pouvoir royal et les changements dans les relations de pouvoir dans la péninsule Ibérique du xiiie siècle.

The Alphonsine imperial ideology has attracted the attention of critics for decades and this study offers an interdisciplinary approach to the question and attempts to unravel the reasons behind the Alphonsine imperial idea and its relationship with the “ Fecho del Imperio” and the cultural work of the Wise King. We will analyse the origins of the imperial cause: on the one hand, the existence of an imperial idea linked to the kingdom of León that reached Alfonso X through Ferdinand III; and on the other, the king’s family connection with the emperors of the house of Staufen through his mother, Beatrice of Swabia. In this way, we will be able to explain the complexities of the Alphonsine imperial idea, and its relationship with the process of centralisation of royal power and the changes in power relations in xiiith century Iberian peninsula.
520			_a¿Por qué Alfonso X defendió su proyecto imperial hasta las últimas consecuencias? La ideología imperial alfonsí ha atraído las miradas de la crítica desde hace décadas y el presente estudio ofrece un acercamiento interdisciplinar a la cuestión e intenta desentrañar las razones que sustentan la idea imperial alfonsí y su relación con el «Fecho del Imperio» y la obra cultural del rey Sabio. Analizaremos los orígenes de la causa imperial: por un lado, la existencia de una idea imperial ligada al reino de León que llega a Alfonso X mediante Fernando III; y por otro, la conexión familiar del rey con los emperadores de la casa Staufen mediante su madre, Beatriz de Suabia. Así, podremos explicar las complejidades de la idea imperial alfonsí, y su relación con el proceso de centralización del poder real y los cambios en las relaciones de poder en la Península Ibérica del siglo  xiii.
