520			_aL’entrée en vieillesse se marque souvent par la brutalité de sa survenue, et suscite une rupture de continuité dans l’existence d’un sujet. À tel point que le sujet est mis à mal dans la représentation subjective de lui-même, et qu’il tente défensivement de maintenir un sentiment de soi imaginaire qui concorde mal avec ce que son corps lui renvoie dans le réel. Comment perdre sans se perdre ? Voilà peut-être la question existentielle fondamentale du sujet âgé confronté à sa vieillesse.
520			_aMost often, the process of getting older starts quite abruptly. This may cause a break in the consciousness of life’s continuity for the person involved, to the point that this person can loose the subjective representation of him/herself; he/she then defensively tries to fill the gap between the imaginary of the « self », and the concrete body experience. How can we loose without getting lost? This central question will be our main focus in this article.
