520 _aBased on a corpus of six comedies written by Legrand, Destouches, Dufresny and Marivaux, this article sets out to show that the introduction in these plays of a specific temporality germane to novels, allows them to represent elderly women not as a fixed category, embodied by a comic type, but as the ageing of women, i.e a process of becoming. This shift allows comedies of the early 18th century to problematize the evolution of the feminine over time, and to represent female senescence as a progressive queerization, that is to say as a blurring of gender lines.
