It is no surprise that cultural flows and their local impact have aroused the curiosity of anthropologists. They are not only interested in the nature of cultural flows but also in how societies adapt or resist this situation, with reactions ranging from appropriation to rejection. Opposing all forms of essentialism, anthropologists consider complex processes all too quickly categorized under multiculturalism and cultural diversity.
