520 _aPost-socialist experience challenges feminist thinking in many aspects, from the plural understanding of women as political subject to the diverse imaginaries of emancipatory practices and ways of renewing activist repertories. After situating “Eastern Europe” and the “post-socialist space”, I propose a three-step case for it. First, I discuss socialist states’ legacy in women’s emancipation matters, as well as its fortune in the intellectual productions of the 1990s. Then I consider occurrences of post-socialist feminist activism such as the emergence of academic, militant and expert repertories inspired and supported by international languages of “gender”. Last, I account for the enduring “Eastern-European” referential in recent transnational feminist solidarities that oppose social justice claims to the pitfalls of both “illiberal” regimes and neoliberal globalization.
