Celle-ci est définie comme un état psychique douloureux caractérisé par un fléchissement de la capacité de discernement, la certitude d’être détenteur de la vérité et d’être porteur d’une mission. La dynamique intrapsychique à l’œuvre dans les théopathologies est discutée en relation à une « théorie du moi » qui distingue dans le sujet trois épaisseurs – le protocolaire, l’essentiel et le transcendantal –, se contaminant mutuellement lorsqu’une personne bascule dans un recours erratique à la religion. Ils font appel à une étude de cas clinique pour illustrer la porosité des frontières psychiques et ses dérives potentielles.

This last is defined as a painful psychic state characterized by a lowe-ring of the capacity for discernment, the certainty that one possesses the truth and is entrusted with a mission. The intrapsychic dynamics at work in theopathologies is discussed in relation to a “theory of the ego” that distinguishes in the subject three layers – the layer of protocol, the essential layer, and the transcendental layer – which are mutually contaminated when a person lapses into an erratic recourse to religion. Ideologies of hatred and extremist thinking reveal forms of fanaticism which create a trap of insecurity for societies and a danger of pathological drifting for individuals. A clinical case is presented to illustrate the porous nature of psychic frontiers and its potential for drifting.
