520			_aThis paper adopts a psychodynamic approach to the clinical case of a child suffering from a neuromuscular disease in a specialised hospital department and analyses not only the psychical traces resulting from a surgical procedure known as arthrodesis, but also those this procedure reawakened, in both the child and the child’s parents. The question of psychical traces goes hand in hand with that of how these traces are also effaced or veiled.
