520			_aApproaching violence from a clinical and psychoanalytical perspective puts Freud’s theory of the death drive and destructiveness into perspective. But is the psychopathological approach to domestic violence adequate to address its social reality clinically? “Crazy love” and passionate jealousy can no longer legitimise the violence perpetrated within a “couple,” when that “couple” is understood as a “social dispositif” (or social arrangement) that reproduces gender stereotypes through a dominant system of norms. How do the tools of gender analysis help make domestic violence intelligible? When confronted with this clinical reality, to what extent can psychologists and psychoanalysts come to an understanding of the socio-political materiality of such violence and is it possible to engage both the psychic and the normative forces in practice? Is such a dialogue even conceivable? The aim here is to understand the subjective effects of the intersection between the subject’s own psychic dispositions and the social and normative arrangement of the “couple”.

Une pratique qui articule le psychique et le normatif est-elle possible ? Ce dialogue est-il pensable ? Il s’agit ici d’appréhender les effets subjectifs de la rencontre entre les dispositions psychiques du sujet et le dispositif social et normatif qu’est le couple.
