520			_aL’article présente une analyse sociologique empirique des effets de la privation de la liberté sur la violence carcérale, privation entendue non dans une perspective positiviste, mais dans une perspective de philosophie politique qui vise à ne pas dissoudre la question de la liberté dans les différents déterminismes que la sociologie a pour vocation d’identifier. La violence est appréhendée au lieu du rapport sociopolitique aux détenus, soit un rapport sécuritaire fondé sur la peur et sur l’absence d’un espace commun d’action et de parole.

The deprivation of liberty is defined as a political philosophical concept which try to escape a positivist point of view. Violence is analysed through the social and political construction of the inmate based on fear and deprivation of a common space of action and speech.
