520			_aLes premières Académies réformées françaises apparaissent dans les années 1560 mais ne se développent vraiment qu’au tournant des xvie-xviie siècles. Elles se réduisent la plupart du temps à un enseignement de théologie. Seules Saumur et Sedan ont un vrai rayonnement international, fondé sur des écoles théologiques originales. Mais ces Académies cherchent surtout à former des pasteurs et à défendre la doctrine réformée. Leur problème principal est le manque de ressources financières, ce qui les rend fragiles face aux attaques de la monarchie sous Louis XIV. Elles disparaissent toutes, au plus tard en 1685-1686.
520			_aThe first French Reformed Academies appeared in the 1560s, but these institutions only really began to develop at the turn of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In most cases they were limited solely to the teaching of theology. Only Saumur and Sedan could boast a true international influence, based on the original theological schools they produced. But above all the academies sought to train pastors and to defend the Reformed doctrine. Their main problem was a lack of financial resources, which made them vulnerable to attacks from the monarchy under Louis XIV. They had all disappeared by 1685–1686 at the latest.
