520 _aThrough the analysis of a case of police violence in a suburban neighborhood inhabited by indigenous Toba Qom families, we will demonstrate that contemporary segregation patterns involve culture, reproduce social differences, and use the past to rewrite relationships of identity and otherness with those who are designated as “others.” From a spatial perspective and analysis of three figures (the political leader, the broker with political parties, and the religious leader), we propose to define the complex terms in which segregation is formed and reproduced today in local contexts.
