520 _aThe family is a place of psychic transmission. What is transmitted is not only what can be told by one generation to another, but also what cannot be told because of a lack of inscription, of psychic representation. It is the negative part of transmission. This negativity can sometimes be transmitted somehow surrounded by containments that form part of the family culture and allow the defusion of their dangerous side. When a trauma occurs these containments are breached and the family suffers. Focusing on the case of a family in therapy, the author proposes considering how the effects of the trauma are re-presented in daily life and during the sessions, leading to the creation of a “myth” that will take on the function of containment of negativity.
