520 _aA committed and cosmopolitan writer, a polygraphic and polyglot traveller, who writes in Portuguese, English, French and Italian, Nísia Floresta has played a significant role in the transnational circulation of feminist texts. More broadly, her works represent a privileged object of analysis of the circulation and development of feminist and revolutionary ideas between metropolises and colonial spaces in the nineteenth century. The literary study of the writer’s bibliography, and more specifically Direitos das mulheres injustica dos homens (1832), Opusculo humanitario (1853), Lagrimas de um Caete (1849) and Trois ans en Italie suivis d’un voyage en Grece (1864), aims to study Nísia Floresta’s thought in order to understand how the defense of women’s rights is part of a broad and articulated progressive project, inspired by European and American revolutionary ideals.
