520 _aWhile walking through the city center in Germany, one inevitably notices people rummaging through bins. In Western countries, this behavior is mostly associated with poverty and homelessness. But the gleaners appearance does not seem to fit this category. The microsociological case-analysis demonstrates that their motivation in gleaning bottles goes far beyond the pure need to make a living.
