520 | _aThis article studies how the Revolt of the Va-Nu-Pieds (1639) was described in words and stories throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. After presenting the seditious and repressive rhetoric used by the actors in the movement and by the authorities respectively, we endeavor to analyze the first stories and testimonials about the Norman uprising before reflecting on how the latter, in particular, is treated in the official historiography. Throughout this flood of competing or parallel discourses, we find the phenomenon of writing constructing a historical event, which we intend to explore. | ||
