520 _aThis article addresses the issue of the presence of Chinese car manufacturers on the Russian market. It begins by analysing the positioning and difficulties faced by Chinese manufacturers when entering the Russian market. The author then examines the role of Western sanctions on the Russian automotive industry and questions how these sanctions influence the position of Chinese manufacturers given that China has never officially supported sanctions against Russia. Finally, the author focuses on the changes caused by the war in Ukraine, which started in 2022 and led to very significant changes in the Russian car market. The departure of Western manufacturers is an opportunity for Chinese manufacturers, particularly if Western manufacturers do not return to the Russian car market in the near future.
