520 | _aFollowing the structural adjustment programs imposed by the Bretton Woods Institutions, Cameroon had to redirect public action to sectors considered as economically productive at the expense of the education and culture sectors. As a result, a large portion of economic activities in the cultural and creative industries (CCI) sector have become informal. Despite an internationally recognized and significant musical and film output, Cameroon has been slow to provide a suitable framework for its economic growth. These activities in the CCI represent economic opportunities for structured countries; Cameroon's indifference in overlooking this sector raises the question of cultural public policies in a context where the intangible economy is now the Trojan horse for a political and economic positioning in the “global village.” | ||
