520 | _aThe author of this paper sheds light on the two points of view that currently dominate in the child welfare system: (i) the protection-centered point of view, ranging from classical social assistance to the laws of 2007 that focus on the child’s interests and (ii) the point of view focusing on the promotion of human rights, stemming from the laws of 1970 on parental authority, the law of June 6, 1984 on family rights, and the law of January 2002 that reformed the welfare and medical-social work. This paper does not contrast these two viewpoints, but rather seeks to combine them, with each preventing excessive interpretations of the other. | ||
