520 _aShiatsu is a technique in Eastern medicine that uses pressure and touch. This article describes the experience of a sensorial shiatsu workshop in an Institut médico-éducatif (French institution for mentally disabled children) for children with autism and severe developmental difficulties. The workshop included five non-verbal children between 8 and 9 years of age. It took place throughout one school year. The project was planned to be a response to precise requests from the education team to create sensorial tools to be used daily and addressing the following issues: promoting calm moments, managing difficult situations, especially emotional crises, bringing about physical relaxation, and teaching children how to calm down on their own.
