520 _aEducational psychology has a full role to play in accompanying young detainees in custody, as well as in preparing their release. The time spent in custody can be used profitably by the adolescent to reconstruct his or her weakened, if not annihilated, self-esteem and sense of identity. In this article, we discuss the particularities of the professional practice of the National Educational psychologist, anchored in the observation of the individual situations of young detainees in the process of rebuilding a life project.
