520 _aThe question of the secrecy of origins is a classical one in stories of adoption on the side of adults concerning transmission to the child. But what about when the secret is kept by the child? In this article, I reflect on this question with reference to a clinical situation showing how a secret can be structuring and serve as the guarantor of the psychic space of a subject; but it can also make the child captive and complicate the problem of mourning.
