520 _aChildren often wonder about death. Since the subject is taboo, they feel isolated in their existential questioning. Their conception of death thus depends on what they perceive within their family and through the media. In the absence of any pedagogy, the latter reinforce what is left unsaid. Therefore discussion groups have been created in schools since 1999 to enable 6 to 12-year-old children to speak of death and establish reference points for their life.
