520 _aSettled in France for many years, the foster parents of Bamileke children from Cameroon raise them in a cultural environment different from that in which they grew up. Thus, the transfer of the practice of foster parenting in the French environment affects social representations of the child and generates significant changes in the relationships between the various stakeholders (foster parents, biological parents, foster child and biological child of the foster family). This paper shows the foster parents' difficulties in raising the child, while sustaining a practice that maintains a very close link with their roots in Cameroon.
